Being Neighborly
Vincent and Heidi Giesegh’s 16-year-old daughter Kirsten has cerebral palsy. “As she goes into her spastic modes, we could just tumble down the stairs and both of us could get massively hurt,” Heidi said. So, after getting the OK from the city of Fountain, Colo., the family installed a wheelchair ramp and widened the driveway of their home to accommodate Kirsten’s needs. Now, the Gieseghs say, the next door neighbor is complaining and has threatened legal action, saying the ramp hurts neighborhood home values.
