Blocking the Way

For some people, says Draven Gayheart, a scar is a “constant reminder of what they’ve gone through.” And the service he offers is “the only way for these people to move forward with their lives.” He’s a tattoo artist in Hazard, Ky., and he covers scars for customers, as he has also done for his wife. But the Kentucky Department of Public Health is updating its tattooing regulations, and the proposed rules would ban covering scars. In a statement, the department noted that this was the first update these regulations had gotten in roughly 15 years — and said comments could be emailed to [email protected].
