Can’t You Read?

The California Highway Patrol says a driver plowed through a sign alongside the freeway near Aptos, went up an embankment, flipped, and ended up on its roof. It was 11:30 a.m. and Stephen DeWitt, 57, was “quite intoxicated,” an officer said, noting he would have been killed had he not been wearing his seatbelt. As it was, DeWitt was helicoptered to a trauma center with serious injuries. And the sign he plowed through? It read, “REPORT DRUNK DRIVERS. CALL 911.” (RC/KSBW Salinas) ...Other drivers were afraid to, with the tougher new law against using phones while driving.
