Caught Red-Handed
A bank robber in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., escaped with $7,500 in cash, even though he used his finger to simulate a gun. His escape wasn’t clean, though: the teller slipped a dye pack in with the loot; it exploded after he got outside, marking him, the money, and his clothing with red dye. The robber had a solution: he stripped completely and, while running down the street, tossed down a trail of $50 and $100 bills behind him. Responding police were thus able to easily track him, and Alexander Hayden Sperber, 25, was quickly taken into custody. Sperber claimed everything went according to plan: the escapade, he told investigators, was his way to “begin his career as a comedian.” (RC/Palm Beach Post, South Florida Sun-Sentinel) ...At the very least, we’re laughing at him.Original Publication Date: 20 August 2017
