Change of Scenery

Lawrence John Ripple, 70, went to a bank in Kansas City, Kan., and allegedly handed the teller a note: “I have a gun, give me money.” She did, but Ripple didn’t run: he sat down in the bank’s lobby and waited for police to arrive. That didn’t take long: the police station is in the same block as the bank. Ripple told officers that he was sick of his wife. “Ripple wrote out his demand note in front of his wife,” the investigating FBI agent noted in his report, “and told her he’d rather be in jail than at home.” (RC/Kansas City Star) ...To support herself, Ripple’s wife is having to get a job — as a prison guard.
Story Update: The judge in the case was apparently more devious than I am! In June 2017, Ripple was sentenced to ...yes... six months of home confinement.
