Childhood Now Prohibited in Parts of Canada

Artisan Gardens, a development in Chemainus on Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada, has passed a bylaw to ban children from playing on the street — even low-traffic cul-de-sacs. Bicycling, basketball, chalking, skateboarding, and “other sports and recreational activities” are not allowed. “The generation of people urging us to get our children to go outside are now the ones telling us this is not allowed here,” said a resident, who points out it’s not an “adults only” neighborhood. “I don’t think I should have to sell my home to move somewhere where my child can live out her childhood.” (RC/CBC) ...“To heck with you: I got mine” is not limited to Canada.
