Chilling Effect
Laura Ulin, 40, showed up 15 minutes late for her hair appointment at a Cape Coral, Fla., salon, bringing along three or four children. According to witnesses, when Ulin was told she had to wait, she replied, “Well, there seems to be a lot of talking and no work.” Another customer told Ulin to “take a chill pill,” and Ulin responded by yelling and cursing. A client placed herself between Ulin and the stylist who was the target of her rage, and witnesses say Ulin then pulled a gun out of her purse, pointed it at the woman, and told her to back up. When someone said they were calling the police, Ulin left. Officers went to her house, found a loaded gun, and arrested her. Ulin was charged with carrying an unlicensed firearm, and assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
