Don’t Forget

According to police, Alex Patterson, 19, stopped an officer in Rehoboth, R.I., and asked for directions to Attleboro, Mass. Officer Craig Forget ran a license check on the vehicle Patterson was driving. “I asked Mr. Patterson if he knew that the vehicle was stolen,” Forget wrote in his report. “He told me, ‘Yes. I stole it from Coventry.’” Patterson, he said, told him “he just wanted to get out of Rhode Island.” Patterson then allegedly tried to escape, ramming the police cruiser as he took off. “We also asked Mr. Patterson why he backed into the police vehicle and he stated that he knew it had a push bar and could take it,” court documents say. Patterson was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless operation, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and destruction of property over $250. He also had three outstanding arrest warrants. (MS/Providence Journal) ...It’ll be a while before he can get out of Rhode Island.
