Don’t Forget to Vote

No one voted for anyone for mayor or city council member in Wallsburg, Utah, this year. No one even ran. That was because no one advertised that it was time to file, no one organized the polling, and no one noticed the town was even supposed to hold an election until it was too late. The 275-person municipality had a new recorder, and instead of overseeing the election, he overlooked it. The county clerk said the incumbents would have to be reappointed. They were previously appointed two years ago, when, Utah elections office director Mark Thomas said, Wallsburg failed to hold an election. (AC/Salt Lake Tribune) ...When you don’t hold elections, no one can vote anyone out.
