Don’t Leave Your Keys in the Ignition
Christopher Cook was delivering a pizza just after midnight in Lehigh Acres, Fla. He told police that as he was walking up to the house’s front door, he saw someone “come out of the woods” toward his car. The person jumped into the driver’s seat and took off. Police tracked down the car, and the 14-year-old driver’s father pieced together what happened: his daughter, he said, ordered the pizza to be delivered to a neighbor’s house so she could steal the delivery driver’s car to visit her boyfriend. Amazingly enough, it worked, but she didn’t count on the police helicopter: the girl was booked for grand theft of a motor vehicle, and released to her father. Cook, meanwhile, donated the pizza to the deputies who helped him recover his car. (RC/WBBH Fort Myers) ...And hopefully, Dad made her pay for it.Original Publication Date: 03 February 2019
