Marny, 25, and her boyfriend went to their regular gym in Constance, Germany, to work out. For this visit, Marny sported a new crop top, but the gym wasn’t happy with her display (of a couple centimeters) of skin. While Marny was working out, a female trainer told her she “couldn’t train like this.” What? Club rules dictated she couldn’t wear a sports bra. “I was shocked,” Marny said, “because it wasn’t a sports bra and even if it was, why not?” Because her attire was “distracting for other guests around,” the trainer said, noting gym policy says men can’t wear tank tops and women can’t wear uncovered sports bras. “I felt like I had been thrown back into the 1800s,” Marny said, and posted a photo of her outfit to Twitter, where it went viral. “All genders should be able to wear what they want to wear,” she said.
