Don’t Tase Me, Sis
Several students at Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Va., were attacked by another student, who smuggled a stun gun into school. The school has metal detectors, but they weren’t manned by school staff. The female attacker had posted a threat on Facebook the night before, saying “I’m going out in a big way,” one of the victims said. “I just turned around and she just started tasing me out of nowhere,” said one victim, who didn’t want her name used. “She tased me and three other of my friends a lot of times.” Kenita Bowers, the “Communications Director” for the district, noted, “Based upon preliminary findings of the investigation, immediate steps are being taken to resolve a breakdown in compliance with the school division’s standard operating procedures for safety and security and appropriate personnel action is being taken in accordance with the school division’s human resources policies.” (RC/WTVR Richmond) ...How many security officers could they hire to staff the metal detectors with the salary of one laid off Communications Director?Original Publication Date: 07 May 2017
