It was early Sunday morning, and Izaiah Hall of Wyoming, Mich., was hungry. Since his grandma was asleep, he called someone else for help — by dialing 911. Izaiah is 5-years-old. The cell phone he used was decommissioned, but since 911 can be reached even on deactivated phones, the boy reached dispatcher Sara Kuberski and “asked for McDonald’s” to be brought. Local policy dictates all emergency calls must be responded to, so Kuberski sent Ofc. Dan Patterson to the location. “I was laughing to myself,” Patterson said. “Five-year-old calls dispatch and orders McDonald’s.” To get there, Patterson had to pass a certain spot. “I figured hey, I’m driving past McDonald’s on my way there,” Patterson said, “and I might as well get him something.” The boy was scared to answer the door, though, so Patterson knocked on the window. “I think the first thing he said to me was, ‘My grandma’s gonna be so mad, can you please go away?’” (MS/WZZM Grand Rapids) ...He should’ve brought coffee for Grandma.
