Experimenting with Modernity
Willard Yoder, 21, said he chose the phone number at random, according to Det. Craig Pennington of the Connersville, Ind., Police. Yoder allegedly sent 600 messages to that number, including text, video, and pictures of himself without his usual Amish attire, or for that matter, any clothing at all in ...um... key places. Then, according to the police report, he set up a meeting, intending to know (as the Bible puts it) the 13-year-old girl he thought he was sexting. But the report says the girl — actually just 12 — alerted her mother, who exchanged messages with Yoder, and by the time he pulled up outside a restaurant in a horse-drawn buggy to meet her, the young-looking female that was waiting was a police officer.
