Faxticious

The Lancaster County, Neb., jail got a fax to say bond had been posted for a certain inmate, and he ought to be released. Two problems: it was a Saturday, and the court whose staff supposedly sent the fax is closed on Saturdays, and not only was the fax sent through an online service rather than an actual fax machine, it carried a phone number and email that did not match the court. Police said the email address was Justin A. Colbert’s, who has pleaded guilty to abusing public records. (AC/Lincoln Journal-Star) ...He was sentenced to 60 days, which a fax from the court says he already served.
