Employees at a Des Moines, Wash., Safeway called police after a woman tried to buy a prepaid Visa card with $4,900 in what they believed to be counterfeit money. “Although the counterfeit currency is of fair quality,” says Police Sgt. Dave Mohr, “there are markings on the bills” that call them into suspicion. Such as? All the $100 bills had the same serial number, and there were bright pink Chinese characters printed on the front of each bill. “The case will require further investigation,” Mohr said.
