Give Me a Break

Washington, D.C., voted to let people use recreational marijuana. But Congress, which can override D.C. laws, banned the District from setting up a system of regulated sales. The result: you can’t legally buy marijuana in Washington, but you can give it away. That explains the $45 black T-shirt one store sells, and Laid Back Lords’ $50 baseball caps, and however much a vendor at “Cannemania” charges for a Julio Franco baseball card. A lieutenant from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Narcotics and Special Operations unit says it’s illegal to sell these items with marijuana “gifts,” but officers aren’t “actively out hunting” for dealers who don’t “force us to take action.” (AC/AP) ...Wow! He’s almost as generous as the guys giving away weed!
