Giving a Warning
If you saw a cop standing by a motorcycle with a radar gun and a sign that says “Thank you for not speeding,” would you slow down? Some drivers in Tucson, Ariz., apparently did — even though the officer wasn’t actually about to ticket them. It was a mannequin, one of two the Tucson Police Department recently acquired. Nevertheless, human officers gave only about three tickets during deployments when Tuscon’s Fakest were deployed, Sgt. Corie Nolan said; in deployments of the same length, 10 would be normal.
