Guardian of the Theater

Brandon Vezmar, 37, took Crystal Cruz, 35, to the movies in Austin, Texas, but he wasn’t satisfied with their date at a showing of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. She spent 15 minutes, he said, texting, so he sued her for the $17.31 he’d spent on her 3D ticket. She claimed that she only sent three texts — and that she “needed to remove” herself from his presence “for my own safety.” He denied that. The story attracted media attention, and while he was being interviewed by “Inside Edition,” Cruz gave Vezmar the money. He’s also asked people to donate $17.31 to charity “out of respect for what I’ve done for them and the sanctity of the theater-going experience.” (AC/Austin American-Statesman) ...If this was about the “sanctity of the theater-going experience,” shouldn’t he have asked her to pay for everyone else’s ticket?
