Had Me a Blast, Happened So Fast

After St. Augustine Beach, Fla., hotel owners complained about prostitution in the area, police set up a sting. Dubbed Operation Summer Lovin’, the sting had two phases. First, police responded to online ads acting as potential clients. In phase 2, officers posted their own ads and busted people who responded. Reno Fells, 48, was one of the alleged respondents. Fells was directed to a hotel room, where he was arrested when he arrived, along with 13 others who responded to the ad. All were charged with prostitution, or procurement for prostitution, or soliciting a prostitute. After meeting with department administrators, Fell also resigned from his job — as a Palatka, Fla., police detective. Fells, a 26-year veteran, had risen to the position of police commander, and had run for Putnam County sheriff. (MS/Orlando Sentinel) ...Was once considered mighty, now has fallen.
