Heads I Win, Tails You Lose

Sarah Webb was pulled over for speeding in Roswell, Ga. According to video from an officer’s body camera, Webb explained she was running late for work. Officer Courtney Brown chastised Webb for speeding on a wet road and risking lives. Brown then returned to her vehicle where, according to the video, she discovered her radar gun wasn’t working and she couldn’t check the license, so she called for backup. The arriving officer, Kristee Wilson, allegedly suggested using a coin toss app on Brown’s phone to decide the outcome, saying “‘a’ (arrest) for heads and ‘r’ (release) for tails.” The toss apparently came up tails, but Webb was arrested anyway. When the body camera footage was released to the media an investigation was started, the officers were put on administrative leave, and Webb’s criminal case was dismissed. In a statement, Police Chief Rusty Grant said he was “appalled that any law enforcement officer would trivialize the decision making process of something as important as the arrest of a person.” (MS/Atlanta Journal Constitution, WXIA Atlanta) ...What should be done about the officers?
