In Tackles and in Touchdowns

Mountain Pine (Ark.) High School won no football games last year. It didn’t win its first game this year. Then two teenagers got married, and Mountain Pine won seven consecutive games. That’s not just luck: one of those teenagers was a transfer student, and the Arkansas Activities Association had declared him ineligible. But the rules say a student is eligible if he lives with a spouse who’d lived in the district for a year before marrying him. The father of the bride says football isn’t the reason for the marriage, “certain circumstances” are. Nevertheless, since getting his marriage license, the unnamed 17-year-old groom has been a star player for Mountain Pine. (AC/KATV Little Rock) ...Love finds a way.
