Just Add Mr. Fusion
Spencer White of Saugus, Calif., wanted a DeLorean ever since he saw Back to the Future, and he finally bought one. That led to a ride in the car for his mother — on the freeway. After merging, White saw that his speedometer read 85 mph. “I thought, let’s take it up to 88 mph,” he said. “I only got three more miles to go.” Right after he hit 88 mph, he didn’t see flaming tire tracks, but did see the flashing lights of a California Highway Patrol cruiser. After pulling over, a smiling officer approached the car. “He asked me how fast I thought I was going,” White said. He admitted his speed, and the officer then showed him the radar gun that had him clocked at exactly 88 mph. “All of us started busting up laughing,” White said. Despite the fun, the officer still issued him a ticket, but did ask him if he had a “flux capacitor” in the car. “Maybe if I had the flux capacitor, he would have let me off,” White said. (MS/Santa Clarita Valley Signal) ...Maybe if he had a flux capacitor, he’d have changed the future and not gotten caught.Original Publication Date: 11 June 2017
