Keep Calm for a Parked Car II
Retired dentist Peter Maddox, 84, has no carport or garage at his Bibury, Gloucestershire, England, home, so he parks his 3-year-old car on the street. Neighbors had complained that his bright “banana” yellow car “photobombs” tourist pictures in the neighborhood — the oldest housing area in the country. But neighbors are now flocking to his defense after someone scratched the word “MOVE” into the paint on the hood. Police estimate the damage at 6,000 pounds (US$7,450), meaning it would likely be totaled out by his insurance company. If that happens, Maddox says, he’ll replace the car with one painted lime green. Neighbors have started a collection so he can get his old car repainted. (RC/London Telegraph) ...After all, it is the bright spot in the neighborhood.Original Publication Date: 26 February 2017
