Light of the World
Mountain Park Christian Church in Ahwatukee, Ariz., had an idea to display a lit cross to act like a lighthouse, welcoming all and letting highway travelers know they’re almost home. But when they activated the lights, they had some technical difficulties. “There was a window where we were short-term Vegas,” said lead pastor Allan Fuller. “It was just a small window of Vegas.” The lighting controls were the problem. “It was flashing colors when we first plugged it in,” Fuller said. “We did not have control over the colors or how it was going to work for a few days.” The flashing lights have been replaced with steady purple spotlights, but some area residents still think the display is a better fit for the Vegas strip than a community church. “If it’s still a problem or a struggle, yes, please come talk with us,” Fuller said. “We’re learning how to adjust the lights.” (MS/KTVK Phoenix) ...In lights and religions, it’s always a good idea to read the manual.Original Publication Date: 26 November 2017
