Spare the Jail Sentence, Spoil the Adult
Rhonda Shoffner, 41, of Middletown, Pa., pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, strangulation, child endangerment, and making terroristic threats, and was sentenced to 2-1/2 to 5 years in state prison, and then 5 years of probation. “This was an extremely scary situation for this young victim to have to endure,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean McCormack. “Fortunately, she is doing well now and is in a safe place.” The victim: Shoffner’s 13-year-old daughter. Shoffner beat the girl, telling her “I’m going to kill you,” because she didn’t recite Bible verses to her mother’s satisfaction.
