Lighting It Up

The Las Vegas Lights, a new pro soccer team based in the Nevada city, has announced it has lined up a new sponsor: the Nuwu Cannabis Marketplace, a marijuana dispensary. Pot was made legal in the state in 2017, and it’s the first time any pro sports team in the U.S. has been openly sponsored by such a business. Sure, as long as the players don’t use the product, right? Wrong: “Our players are adults and professional athletes living in Las Vegas,” said team owner Brett Lashbrook. “There are a lot bigger temptations in this city and plenty of other things I’m more concerned about.” Lashbrook says the United Soccer League doesn’t require testing players for marijuana, and he doesn’t either. (RC/Las Vegas Sun) ...Next the new Vegas Golden Knights hockey team can get a sponsorship deal from a crystal meth dealer and claim a “home ice advantage.”
