“This is a robbery,” the note handed to the bank teller said. “Please give me all your 100s and 50s in an envelope and everything will be ok.” The teller gave him cash, and the robber slipped outside, hopped on a “dockless e scooter,” and disappeared into Austin, Texas, traffic. Police simply looked at security camera video, saw the scooter was a “Jump” brand owned by Uber, and subpoenaed the company for the identity of the rider. The company supplied contact information for Luca Mangiarano, 19. Police checked his Facebook page and found unspecified evidence he was the robber. Mangiarano was arrested and charged with robbery.
