“He lit all four cars on the east side of 104th,” said a witness in Edmonton, Alta., Canada, then “crossed the street and then hit about five or six to this side.” The good news is, the man told others on the street, “I will not hurt you people,” Police responded quickly to the arsons in progress, but were thwarted when the firebug came up with a way to keep the police from catching up: “He drew a line in gasoline and lit it on the sidewalk just so he could sort of like stop everyone that was chasing him,” the witness said. But two bystanders took the man to the ground so police could take him into custody. Police identified the man as Malice Sutton, 22. He was charged with 11 counts of arson causing damage, three counts of arson with disregard for human life, four counts of possessing incendiary material, and one count of assault with a weapon.
