Mind the Gap

Sean Matteson was taking pictures with his fiancée at the Taft Point Overlook in Yosemite National Park. He noticed a woman there, later identified as Meenakshi Moorthy, 30, who stood out to him because of her pink hair — and how close she was to the precipice of the 3,000 foot drop. Park rangers later recovered the bodies of Moorthy and her husband Vishnu Viswanath, 29, from the bottom of the overlook. Moorthy and Viswanath had been taking selfies at the overlook, and apparently fell over the edge. The couple had a history of thrill seeking selfies all over the world. Viswanath’s Facebook cover photo shows the couple smiling and holding each other on the edge of a Grand Canyon precipice with the caption, “Living life on the edge.” (MS/AP) ...And dying death below it.
