Not Happy to See Him

Officials at Blountsville (Ala.) Elementary School came running when they heard a shot ring out from the first-grade classroom. A 7-year-old girl was injured by a bullet fragment, and was treated by the school nurse. It wasn’t a student that brought the gun in, it was the substitute teacher, said Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon. “I’m so sorry it happened,” says Henry Rex Weaver, 74, “and I hope those kids have no memory of it after time passes.” According to investigators, Weaver had a .380 caliber pistol in his pocket; when he bent over to pick up something on the floor, a knife in the same pocket got into the trigger guard and, when he stood up again, fired the gun into the floor. “I completely forgot about the pistol being in my pocket,” he said. Weaver has been charged with reckless endangerment, third degree aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm on school grounds. (RC/Birmingham News) ...No memory over time?
