Obliviocy Breeds Quickly
“I fear this will never end,” sighed Utah Lt. Governor Spencer Cox in an online post. The problem: someone sent an invitation to a pot-luck Christmas party to 25,000 state employees, who hit “Reply All” to respond — including one sent to everyone to say he was bracing himself to receive “thousands of emails from people hitting ‘reply all’ to say they got added by mistake.” Naturally, others thought it might be helpful to suggest “Please remove me from this email,” but that never works in “Reply All” storms. Nor did the one screaming “EVERYONE STOP RESPONDING!!” State spokesman Joe Dougherty said within minutes, “dozens” of messages — each sent to 25,000 others — were spewing through state servers. After a few hours, Dougherty posted that it was all settling down. (RC/KUTV Salt Lake City) ...But please: don’t “Reply All” to say thanks.Original Publication Date: 16 December 2018
