The idea to connect Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, Israel, with a high speed rail line goes back to the 1990s — the line was supposed to open in 2008. While it has recently been opened, it doesn’t go to Tel Aviv. It does, however, feature one train per hour to Ben Gurion Airport, where you can get a train to Tel Aviv that uses older technology. The high-speed line may be extended to Tel Aviv next year. Meanwhile, it’s not so high speed: train velocities have been limited for safety.
