On Thin Ice

A group of men was working on the Sindi dam on the Parnu river in Estonia when they saw a dog trapped in the water. The workers cleared a path through the ice, rescued it, and took the canine to an animal clinic. “He was calm, slept on my legs,” Rando Kartsepp said. “When I wanted to stretch them, he raised his head for a moment.” Veterinarians treated the animal, but it was no dog. A local hunter identified it as a young wolf. The Estonian Union for the Protection of Animals paid the vet bills, and the wolf was fitted with a GPS collar and released. “We are so happy for the outcome of the story, and wish to thank all the participants,” EUPA said, “especially these men who rescued the wolf and the doctors of the clinic who were not afraid to treat and nurture the wild animal.” (MS/BBC) ...If they’re ever in India, they should avoid rescuing any large kitty cats.
