A fire department crew in Dunedin, New Zealand, was called to a familiar address: their own. Smoke was pouring from a window in the fire station, but it turned out the station was not on fire: the smoke was coming from the oven, probably the result of a common cause of house fires — leaving and forgetting something that was cooking. On the bright side, says Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman Lyn Crosson, “Our response time was exceptional.” (RC/Otago Daily Times) ...If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.Original Publication Date: 24 June 2018
