Kenny “Boom” Smith was apparently proud of his skills as a counterfeiter. He allegedly approached a pawn shop owner offering to sell counterfeit money and the machine he used to make it. The pawn shop: American Jewelry and Loan in Detroit, Mich., site of a reality show on TruTV. Smith allegedly offered to sell the items to shop owner and series star Les Gold so he could be on the show. A short time later, the Secret Service, who had been tracking Smith, stopped in. Gold told them what had happened, and even provided video of the conversation. Smith was arrested on federal counterfeiting charges. He even had signed a waiver so he can be on the show. “All because he wanted his five minutes of fame on TV,” Gold said.
