Penalties for Violating Rule No. 1

An unnamed 48-year-old man from Macomb Township, Mich., was camping in Oceana County. He “didn’t think” his 9mm pistol was loaded, and managed to shoot himself in the hand. “He then chose to fire off another round into the bed in the camper he was staying in,” sheriff’s Lt. Craig Mast says, “because he was upset that he just wounded himself.” Prosecutors are reviewing the case and may recommend charges against the man — perhaps the reckless discharge of a firearm. (RC/Muskegon Chronicle) ...Legislative suggestion for a new crime: the stupid discharge of a firearm.
