Probable Cause

An Indian River County, Fla., sheriff’s deputy stopped a pickup truck for a routine traffic infraction. The driver told the deputy she didn’t have her driver’s license — but said they were parked outside her grandmother’s house, and her license was inside. She told the deputy her name was Holly Smith, but the deputy knew that wasn’t true: he had dealt with her before, and knew her name was Christina Sarao. When she saw the deputy didn’t believe her lie, she jumped out of her truck and ran. The deputy easily caught her, and Sarao protested, yelling “I have to poop and I’m pregnant!” Sarao, 35, had multiple warrants out for her arrest, and was taken into custody. When she was searched, she had alleged meth and a pipe in her bra. Investigators determined Sarao didn’t actually know who owned the house she pulled up to, and isn’t pregnant. “Mention was not made,” the newspaper report noted, “of whether she really had to poop.” (RC/Port St. Lucie News) ...Maybe not, but she’s in deep poop now.
