Seemed Like a Good Idea While High
About 18,000 people have signed an online petition started by Dillan Stewert calling for North Dakota and South Dakota to merge into one state. It’s not exactly a formal proposal: the petition text reads, “i think itd be pretty cool to have a state called MegaKota so yeah.” But Stewart has thought about the logistics, too: “oh yeah and then maybe Puerto Rico can be a state and we wont have to change our flag.” Dillon, who said “the best way” to contact him was through his Instagram account, is apparently upset at the publicity over his idea: he has made his Instagram account “private,” and while he admits there “i’m the #MegaKota guy,” he pleads, “please let it die”. It’s unclear how many of the 18,000 signers are residents of either state. “It just sounds stupid,” said a woman from Fargo, N.D. (RC/KVRR Fargo) ...And certainly we know Americans would never vote stupidly.Original Publication Date: 03 February 2019
