When a bomb threat came into Wilkinson School in El Granada, Calif., the sheriff’s bomb squad quickly responded to the private K-8 school. “The school was thoroughly searched and no bombs or dangerous materials were found,” the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office announced. Investigators were able to trace the call to Mississippi: a 15-year-old girl meant to call her own school — Wilkinson County High School in Woodville — but couldn’t quite grasp the difference. “The principal of the high school was notified of the incident,” a sheriff’s spokesman says, “and the school administration will be handling the discipline of the student administratively.” (RC/Half Moon Bay Review, San Jose Mercury News) ...Because schools call in the police for non-crimes, and push them away from actual crimes.Original Publication Date: 21 April 2019
