Sounds Like a Confession
A 911 operator in La Crosse, Wisc., received a call from a man who said he was locked out of a building, and his laptop and cash were inside. He said if police didn’t respond to help, he would break in to the building to retrieve his property. But the man could not explain how his property was inside the business in the first place: it was closed for the weekend, and he did not work there. By the time officers arrived, the man had thought better of his plan and had fled. On Monday, police got another call — from an employee at the business who said his laptop had been stolen. The responding officer found some interesting evidence, including probation paperwork for Randy Bolstad, who did not work there. Bolstad, sentenced to probation in a robbery case the month before, was found nearby, and questioned about the burglary at the business. His reply: “I choose death.” (RC/LaCrosse Tribune) ...Alas, that’s not actually an option.Original Publication Date: 07 January 2018
