When firefighters arrived at a house fire in Conroe, Texas, they discovered more residents than they expected: several five- to six foot pythons and boa constrictors in glass cages built into a wall in the house. “The guys that like or don’t mind handling the snakes didn’t mind” rescuing them, said Lt. Bobby Matthews of the Caney Creek Fire Department. No humans were home at the time of the fire. In addition to the several snakes, firefighters also rescued two dogs, but some other snakes didn’t survive. “A dog or a cat, that’s one thing,” Matthews said. “But a snake, that’s a whole other animal.” (MS/KTRK Houston) ...The commander of fire operations, Captain Obvious, agrees.
