Florida has a native coffee plant that grows wild in the state. When its beans are roasted and ground, it takes a lot to make a cup of coffee. Its flavor is described as “insipid,” and is apt to give drinkers a headache. Yet, it has no caffeine. It’s not from the Arabica nor Robusta coffee family, which is what most people drink; its genus name is Psychotria nervosa.
