Stephen and Christine, Sitting in a Tree...

Christine Peters always wanted to go up in a hot-air balloon. Her boyfriend, Stephen Martin, made it happen; they took off from Edmonton, Alta., Canada. Was it everything she dreamed it would be? “All of a sudden, we’re still 30 or 40 feet up in the air and just the whole thing shakes, and you hear, like, cracking of branches,” said Peters. “And we’re in a tree.” Once they were out of that tree, they flew into another one. The trip ended with a crash. But for Martin and Peters, the most memorable moment was probably what happened before the trees got involved: he proposed, and she said yes.
