Sumatran for Houdini
The Greenville, N.C., Zoo is having trouble keeping Kumar, a Sumatran orangutan, in his cage. Most recently, Kumar escaped while keepers were trying to repair his cage. “Kumar, who has a lot of time on his hands, figured out that the netting wasn’t properly secured,” said City Manager John Castile. “He got out of the exhibit for a short period of time.” The local newspaper noted, “Orangutans are considered among the most-intelligent primates.” (RC/Greenville News) ...Especially compared to a lot of humans.Original Publication Date: 11 February 2018
