Thirsty Work

Wayne Ronayne, 54, has resigned as the ceremonial mayor of Gosport, Hampshire, England. On his first day in office, he and his girlfriend went pub-hopping to celebrate his election, but allegedly got so drunk that the couple was banned from every pub in town — all 36 of them. Ronayne says he did nothing wrong, and “social media” is to blame for his predicament. Publicans note that things had gotten so out of hand that police were called in to settle things down. (RC/London Daily Express) ...Of course he had to resign — he needs to move to a town where he can get a drink.
