Christchurch, New Zealand, restaurateur Can-Tang Lin lost his alcohol sales license last year. But this year, police Sgt. Jon Harris observed alcohol on display at Lin’s restaurant. Officers got a warrant, took the alcohol, and poured it down a police-station drain — about $20,000 worth of booze, including $800 bottles of wine and 18-year-old whiskey. “The council, however, does not accept this type of raw (undiluted) waste into the sewer network,” said Christchurch City Council’s head of waters and waste.
