Water Rescue
A 71-year-old man in Tremont, Maine, went out to the well on his property, opened the cover, and was trying to determine the water level when he fell in. He ended up standing in water up to his neck, calling for help for about half an hour until his wife finally heard him and called 911. “It was scary,” offered Fire Chief Keith Higgins, who noted neighbors helped direct rescue crews to the hole; his brother, fire department Capt. Heath Higgins, jumped in to help the man escape. The man was treated for minor injuries and released. His name was not reported.
