We Said No
Nicole Laveglia parked her car on her own block in Maspeth, in the New York City borough of Queens. The next day, she opened the door to see her car being towed away. By the spot where it had been were two “No Standing Anytime” signs — but they hadn’t been there when she parked: surveillance video shows their installation started just 45 minutes after she parked. The signs weren’t even supposed to be there; they were removed in a matter of days. But Laveglia was left with a $115 parking ticket to contest in court — and a $185 towing fee a councilman is trying to get refunded.
