Not far from the state line in Harris County, Ga., stands the sheriff’s office—and a new sign you might consider Sheriff Mike Jolley’s contribution to the gun debate: “Our citizens have concealed weapons. If you kill someone, we might kill you back. We have ONE jail and 365 cemeteries.” Oh, and one more thing: “Enjoy your stay!” Jolley says he does want people to come and have a good time, “but we want them to do it in a safe manner.” Concealed-carry permits have tripled in recent years, Jolley says, and it’s “a strong Second Amendment county.” Jolley puts up a new sign, at his own expense, roughly every eight months, he says.
